About Natalie
Hello! I’m the maker behind Ceramic Echoes, creating functional ceramics by hand in small batches.
I took my first ceramics class in 2011 and fell in love with the process of creating. Being a college student then, I could only dabble in ceramics periodically over the next few years, but always found a way to keep it in my life. In 2019, I joined my first community studio and could more consistently make, learn, and grow my skills.
Late 2020 found me buying a used pottery wheel from OfferUp, coupled with creating an Etsy site (and now this page!), and the rest was history. Since then, I’ve been able to share my pieces and love of the craft with others across the country, through local markets, and with those at the community studio I'm part of these days in beautiful San Diego, California.
Inspiration
My work is often inspired by the world around me, trips I’ve been on, and what I’m curious to explore.
Living in San Diego, I have the privilege of seeing beauty everyday: sun, beaches, greenery, mountains, and more. My pieces are often glazed in earthy tones, blues, greens, and other neutrals. And once in a while I follow an itch to make colorful pieces to lively everything up.
My visit to Japan, and enjoyment of matcha, lead me to make matcha bowls. On a past climbing trip to Red Rock, the reds of the mountains sparked a series of marbled pieces mixing red clay and speckled white clay. Seeing bright, gorgeous flowers all around in the spring and summer became the origin of my flower pieces. Leaving room for possibilities allows me to try new techniques, glazes, and clay bodies.
In the end, every piece has a little bit of “me”, and I’m thrilled to share it with you.
